Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with Tamari Caramel Sauce

Serves 4

Ice Cream:

  • 8 oz whole milk
  • 8 oz Heavy Cream
  • 2 1/4 oz. Sugar
  • 7 egg Yolk
  • 2 Vanilla bean Split and scraped

Tamari Caramel Sauce:

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Butter
  • 3 TBSP Tamari Soy Sauce
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream

Instructions:

Ice Cream:

Bring Milk, Cream, Vanilla and Sugar to a Boil. Put Egg yolks in a bowl and Temper the hot Liquid into the eggs. Stir Mixture on a Double Boiler till it Coats a Spoon. Cool down, strain and freeze in ice cream Machine.

Tamari Caramel Sauce:

On Medium Heat, Slowly Melt Sugar till all the Grains of sugar are Gone and you have a good Carmel color. Next add butter while Stirring till melted, then Tamari then add Cream all while stirring. Strain While hot and cool down slowly. Serve Warm.
